Ships battle on the football field in the Ohio State University marching band's latest tribute to film
|
When it comes to attending an Ohio State University football game, the highlight is rarely a touchdown or sack but the moment the marching band takes the field at halftime.
Nicknamed 'the best damn band in the land', the school's marching band has had a killer season so far, previously performing tributes to video games and Michael Jackson.
The band continued their awe-inspiring season at yesterday's game against Penn State.

Winning the game: The Ohio State University marching band's most recent performance was a tribute to film scores. Above, the band plays music from Harry Potter while assuming the formation of a quidditch player capturing a golden snitch
Watching you: The band assumed the formation of the Eye of Sauron while playing music from The Lord of the Rings
Awe-inspiring: Superman manages to right a leaning building
During their halftime show, they played a music set from film scores like Superman and Jurassic Park.
As always, the music was fantastic but it was the band's marching formations that were the most impressive.
While playing the Harry Potter theme, the band took the formation of Harry riding a broomstick that moved across the field to chase a golden snitch.
Halftime snack: During their performance of the Jurassic Park theme, a T-rex actually ate one of the band members on the field
Enemies: In the grand finale, the marching band performed the music from Pirates of the Carribean while two ships battled each other on the field. One ship had the OSU insignia and the other was their rival - the University of Michigan
Victorious: Of course, OSU won the battle by sinking the Michigan ship
Their Tyrannosaurus Rex for the Jurassic Park tribute actually swallowed up one of the band members.
The grand finale involved two ships fighting each other while the band played music from Pirates of the Carribean. One of the ship's sails had the OSU insignia on it, and the other had their rival's - the University of Michigan. Needless to say, Michigan's ship sunk.

could never happen in England, the kids over here would complain and want someone else to do it for them, plus the fact their parents would probably sue for some post traumatic shock of their kid being scared when the cannons fired........... well done USA though total impressive.
